WHAT’S IN A NAME?
We at Hi-Q Kuilsriver are affiliated WITH, and stock predominantly, Goodyear tyres. But, if unavailable, we try to make up for it by stocking other well-known brands to ensure THAT you get back on the road quickly.
CAN YOU GET IT …?
Yes we can! If we don’t have it, we can get it! We have an extensive network of suppliers and can get (almost) any tyre you need. Furthermore, all tyres we supply carry free TYRESURANCE.
DO I HAVE TO FIT FOUR TYRES AT THE SAME TIME?
No. It is advisable though to fit two tyres (on the same axle) at a time.
DO I HAVE TO FIT THE SAME SIZE TYRES?
This depends on the vehicle. Some of the newer vehicles employ traction control and a tyre that is slightly smaller turns slightly faster. A wheel that is turning faster than the other signifies wheelspin to the car’s on-board computer and the vehicle tries to correct this wheelspin by engaging traction control.
CAN I USE A SPARE AND JUST BUY ONE NEW TYRE?
Maybe. As mentioned above, it is advisable to fit two of the same tyres (and size) to the same axle. Another factor to keep in mind, however, is the age of your spare tyre. The markings (picture) on the side of the tyre indicate the age. First two digits indicate the week and the second two, the year of manufacture. Keep in mind, the lifetime of a tyre is five years (especially when not in use) and most manufacturers do not offer any guarantee past that.
HOW DO I KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE THE TYRES?
On the shoulder of the tyre, there is a small triangle or a “twi” marking. That MARKING stands for “Tyre Wear Indicator” AND CORRESPONDS with the arrow THAT YOU WILL FIND ON THE TYRE’S “RIDGE”. THE RIDGE IS on the tread of the tyre AND runS over the width of the tyre. Once this ridge is EQUAL IN HEIGHT TO THE surrounding tread blocks, the tyre is illegal, and you could get fined!
